As the 40th annual conference for the International Glass Art Society draws nearer, Louisville is getting more and more buzz as a destination for more than just bourbon and horses. Louisville is well established as a hub for the fans and collectors of contemporary glass art. With “Keep Louisville Weird” as the local mandate to support local talent and keep the local artistic culture alive, it’s no wonder that this city has become a destination for all things artistic.
Treat yourself to a virtual tour of two of the top glass galleries, Glassworks and Flame Run and ‘lunch’ at the Mayan café by visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1WH7c90X1A. Both galleries are participating in the conference.

Full Steam Ahead GAS Louisville 2010
Glass Art Society conference June 10-12, 2010. Reserve rooms now at the Marriott Downtown Louisville.
Corning NY conference site was perfect. The Corning Museum of Glass housed many of the events, and boy do they have a lot of practice! Being immersed in glass from antiquity to modern, and surrounded by glass makers and glass sellers, and getting to mingle amongst the Heinemans and their spsectaculara glass collection….just to good to be true! Louisville offers much more, however, as a convention spot-the city makes the experience better.
